Last Stand, the fifth and final season of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone begins on August 24th. Call of Duty showcased all that is to come this season through the posting of the usual roadmap. This roadmap highlights new modes, weapons, operators, maps, and more. With a lot to unpack surrounding Vanguard and Warzone Season 5 let’s jump straight into it.
Warzone
Peak, one of the hottest drops in Caldera, is about to get a lot hotter. At the launch of Season 5, head over the the new active volcano overlooking the island of Caldera. If that wasn’t hot enough for you, check out the new volcanic-themed gulag… but maybe you don’t want to see the gulag. In addition, both Rebirth Island and Caldera are experiencing new weather patterns making both islands brighter. Maybe the nice weather will be a good trade-off for a fight for your life for any would-be tourists. However, players should mind the skies for incoming lava rocks causing impact damage along with damage from volcanic fumes.
Tons of new items and equipment will be making Warzone that much more unique in the coming season. Doomsday Stations will have enemies descend from helicopters onto your position. For only $10,000 defend your position to earn exclusive loot and cosmetic items. Supply Box UAVs will help players find any unopen supply boxes around them for 15 seconds. Personal Supply Boxes, tracked down using Supply Box UAVs, gives players immediate access to their loadouts. Finally, Rage Serum will have players stomp loudly across the map while being more susceptible to stuns and flashes in exchange for increased melee damage, increased lunge distance, and increased stun power.
Operation: Last Call will have players fighting to either detonate or defuse bombs around Caldera in this Search and Destroy inspired mode. Finally, Heroes v. Villains pits two teams against each other and tasks players with finding Villain or Hero Tokens. The team that collects enough tokens, from either lotting supply boxes or finished enemies, wins exclusive weapon blueprints. More is also on the way with the mid-season update.
Vanguard
Coming to Vanguard with the launch of Season 5 is Beheaded, a war-torn Times Square in a post-apocalyptic world. The second new map, coming later in Season 5, is Fortress which pits players in a seaside ship and graveyard battle. A new ranked season begins in Season 5 which has players fighting for exclusive loot… and spots on the leaderboard.
The conclusion to the Vanguard zombies story is upon head. Drop into The Archon, the brand-new round-based zombies mode that brings an end to the chaos. Operators will have to come face-to-face with Kortifex the Deathless in the Dark Aether to come out victorious.
Across Titles
Plenty of updates coming with Season 5 span across both Vanguard and Warzone. Five brand new weapons are coming to Vanguard and Warzone with Season 5. At launch and through the Battle Pass players can unlock the EX1 Energy Rifle (AR). Also through the Battle Pass, players can get their hands on the RA 225 submachine gun. Through either an unlock challenge or purchase of a bundle, players can unlock the Valois Revolver handgun and melee weapon combo. Later in season, players can unlock the BP50 and Lienna 57 assault rifles.
Four new operators are coming in Season 5; all new operators will be familiar to veteran fans of Call of Duty. The first… Raul Menendez. Familiar to fans of the Black Ops series, Menendez is back to wreak havoc either for you or against you. Next up is Khaled Al-Asad. Known in the Modern Warfare universe, Al-Asad, only outranked by Vladimir Makarov, joins the fight. For those that wanted an answer to the cliffhanger the ending of the Call of Duty: Ghosts campaign left us on, this is at least a small answer. Gabriel T. Rourke, the former Ghost turned Federation leader drops in later in Season 5. Rounding out Task Force Tyrants is He “Seraph” Zhen-Zhen, seen in Black Ops III and 4, becomes a playable operator in Season 5.
