Personal Excerpt

First and foremost, it has been far too long since we’ve posted an article over here at IPC. Given the new-found hype surrounding Call of Duty, there is no better time to hop right back into it. It looks like this is going to be a big year for CoD with Modern Warfare 3 and thus a big year for all of us here at IPC. We hope you’re as excited for the future of Call of Duty as we are.

Reveal Event and Basic Intel

Call of Duty fans around the world received text messages with some very cryptic intel. This intel included basic texts, pictures, and voicemails leaving players wondering what was coming. All of these messages made sense shortly after, however, with the start of something that has been long-awaited.

Earlier this week, on August 17th, the worldwide reveal of Modern Warfare 3 went live in Warzone 2.0. Shadow Siege, the in-game reveal event tasked operators with dropping into Al Mazrah to complete a multitude of objectives. After arming eight missiles around the map, players entered one of three bunkers to extract gas canisters. A successful completion of these challenges, capped off with a successful exfil, leads players to the Modern Warfare 3 Reveal Trailer.

The Modern Warfare 3 Reveal Trailer shows off gameplay from the upcoming campaign. A continuation of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign, MW3 introduces a well-known villain to this iteration of the Modern Warfare story… Vladimir Makarov. We also now know that Modern Warfare 3 is set to release on November 10th, 2023. Additionally, MW3, and the Vault Edition of the title, is now available for pre-order.

Maps

It has long been rumored that we would, eventually, see some of the original maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 return to Call of Duty. Players will not have to wait much longer for that to become a reality as all 16 original maps from the title will be available in Modern Warfare 3 at launch. Although these maps will be the only multiplayer maps available at launch, many maps will added throughout the various seasons. Furthermore, four brand-new maps will be available at launch for the War and Ground War modes.

Moreover, players will be able to have a say on which of the original MW2 maps they want to play on. Map voting, a fan-favorite feature that has been absent from Call of Duty in recent years, will be making a return with Modern Warfare 3.

Now this may not necessarily deal with the maps themselves, but you can’t spell mini-map without map. That said, the classic mini-map returns, something that I know OG fans of the franchise are going to love.

Movement

Movement is KING in Modern Warfare 3 with the many new features being made available. Slide-cancelling is finally making a return to Call of Duty after an absence that felt far too long. Slide cancelling was present at the onset of MW2, being removed shortly after, but odds are we don’t see it removed this time. In addition, players will be able to start shooting their weapon immediately after coming out of a slide. If that wasn’t enough, a feature that players have wanted for a long time now is introduced in MW3. Players can ADS while sliding with a toggleable feature known as Tac-Stance.

Slides are not the only cancellable actions in Modern Warfare 3, however. Players can also reload cancel which will allow players to hop back into a gunfight quicker than originally anticipated.

Mantling is faster than ever before, especially while sprinting as well. The duration of tac-sprint has been increased as well… so watch out for those speed-demons. Tac-sprint will also regenerate while maintaining a normal sprint, so don’t worry about having to hit the brakes. Strafe and ADS movement speeds have been increased as well so get ready for that mid-gunfight movement.

It is important to note that this new movement system will be available in Warzone 2.0 when the Modern Warfare 3 integration takes place at the start of Modern Warfare 3 Season 1.

Additional Features

Many players have complained that the time-to-kill is a bit too fast in Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty has decided to address these concerns. Modern Warfare 3 sees a 50% increase to health, with base player health up from 100 to 150. Furthermore, the headshot multiplier has been lowered as well.

Perks have been ” rebranded” in Modern Warfare 3. Perks will now be seen as “gear” that players can equip to their operators. Although the name has changed, gear will work in the same way as traditional perks. Some of the classic Call of Duty perks, like ninja, will be returning alongside some new perks. Unlike in Modern Warfare 2, all equipped perks in Modern Warfare 3 will be active from the onset of every match.

Content Carry-Over

For the first time ever, we see content from one Call of Duty title carries over into the next. Of course we have seen a variation of this through the various Warzone integrations, but never before have we seen content from one mainline Call of Duty title carried over into the next. All weapons, operators, and bundles will carry over from Modern Warfare 2 into Modern Warfare 3.

Now there are some caveats to this content carry-over that are worth noting. You must have the content unlocked in Modern Warfare 2 for said content to be available in Modern Warfare 3. Furthermore, there are some pieces of content that will not carry-over simply due to the lack of presence of its use in the new title. For example, vehicle skins for certain vehicles in Modern Warfare 2 will not carry over as these vehicles will not be present in Modern Warfare 3. Additionally, players cannot use Modern Warfare 2 weapon camos on Modern Warfare 3 weapons.

Cross-progression is also present between Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3. We have seen cross progression in the past, so this is of no real shock. However, due to the content carry-forward, we see cross progressions like we never have before. Players can use Modern Warfare 2 weapons in Modern Warfare 3, levelling them up and completing challenges for these weapons in the new title.

Campaign

The Modern Warfare 3 campaign takes place right after the Modern Warfare 2 campaign. Featuring locations in Verdansk and around the world, the battle takes place on all fronts. Half of the missions will be linear with the other half being open combat missions. These open combat missions will allow players to play the campaign in the way that they see fit. The Modern Warfare 3 campaign also features some well known characters including, but not limited to, Makarov, Shepard, Task Force 141, and Farah.

Zombies

For the first time ever, zombies will be seen in a Modern Warfare title. MW3 zombies is being dubbed a combination of DMZ and Outbreak and it will be played on the new Warzone map. Multiple 4-player squads (up to 24 players) will work together in this new zombies mode. However, throughout the game each individual squad will be sent to their own secluded area to complete objectives. Many features will be available in zombies including buy stations, ammo depots, wall buys, mystery boxes, and of course Pack-A-Punch. The cinematic story part of MW3 zombies follows the Treyarch zombies story line.

Wrap Up

Being dubbed the most advanced Call of Duty of all time, Modern Warfare 3 is going to be a big year for Call of Duty. Being released on November 10th, with the beta rumored to begin October 6th, it’s almost time to ring in the new era of Call of Duty.

MW2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 is finally here and with that comes a ton of new and exciting content. After a two week delay, this update was definitely worth the wait. Be it new weapons, new maps, new game modes, or anything in between, this new season has it all. With a ton of content to cover let’s jump straight into it.

Warzone 2.0

The Season 2 update is spearheaded by the reintroduction of fan-favorite game mode Resurgence. Not only is Resurgence now in Warzone 2.0 but there is a brand new map for it… Ashika Island. Ashika Island, similar to Rebirth Island, is a small-scale map that encourages quick gunfights so there’s never a dull moment. DMZ players can get in on the fun too, but more on that later. With a ton of new locations to explore, drop into Ashika Island now and fight for that sought after victory!

However, if you though Ashika Island was the only update to Warzone you couldn’t be further from the truth. Finally, Call of Duty has reintroduced the classic 1v1 Gulag, something fans have been asking for for quite some time now. Not only that, but a new Restore Honor mechanic, a Search and Seizure contract, Redeploy Drones, a Data Heist event, and a brand new AI combatant known as a Rusher add into the excitement. In addition, a new Point of Interest will seem familiar to fans of 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.

Finally, Warzone 2.0 Combat Records come online with Season 2. Players can know track the stats they accumulate across all modes in Warzone 2.0. All stats from before this point will however be lost.

DMZ

As mentioned earlier, DMZ players can also experience Ashika Island as it has been introduced as a new extraction zone. A brand new boss enemy, known as the Bombmaker, joins the fight as well and has a HUGE target on his back for any courageous players. Furthermore, a new faction, Crown, enters the fray offering up new missions for players to complete and earn plenty of exclusive rewards. However, only players that own Modern Warfare II can access the missions this faction has to offer.

Not only that, but a new Personal Watercraft (jetski) vehicle allows players to speedily traverse the waters in both Warzone 2.0 and DMZ.

Modern Warfare II

Fans of multiplayer… the time to celebrate has come as Season 2 is jam-packed with tons of exciting content. Two new maps, or sorta new maps, have been added as deploy locations for players to bring the fight to. Modern Warfare 3’s Dome has made a return in this season… please make sure to never, and I mean never, throw a flashbang at FaZe Jev. Also, Valderas Museum, originally seen in the beta, has finally be readded to the map pool with Season 2. Above all of that, Call of Duty surprised all of us yesterday by confirming that a brand new never before seen map will be added to multiplayer with Season 2 Reloaded. In addition, two new battle maps in Al Malik International and Zaya Observatory have been introduced.

New maps are not the only thing to get excited about as brand new game modes are now available for all players. Fan favorite game modes Infected, Grind, and Gun Game are live right now! Not only that, but Tier 1 has been replaced by the returning classic Hardcore mode… you’re welcome camo grinders. Later on in the season, Drop Zone, One in the Chamber, and All or Nothing will be added into the fray.

Atomgrad was just the beginning of the raids in Modern Warfare II as a brand new raid mission is introduced later on in the season.

However, maybe the most exciting update to MWII multiplayer is the introduction of Ranked Play. Players will fight for SR to rank up all the way from Bronze to the Top 250 leaderboard, earning plenty of exclusive rewards along the way. New features including SR Forgiveness, Relegation Protection, and more make the ranked experience that much more enjoyable.

Finally, multiplayer leaderboard are now online.

General Updates

The start of the new season sees the introduction of a brand new Battle Pass full of rewards to unlock. Three new weapons are added to players’ arsenals with Season 2: the ISO Hemlock assault rifle, the KV Broadside shotgun, and the Dual Kodachis melee weapon. However, those are not the only new weapons coming in Season 2. Later on in Season 2 we see the addition of the Tempus Torrent marksman rifle.

Further, a new challenge set called the Path of the Ronin challenges begins right now. Over the coming weeks, new challenges unlock in the set with exclusive rewards being unlocked with the completion of each. For players strong enough to conquer all the challenges, they are handsomely rewarded with the new Crossbow marksman rifle.

Ronin, an operator that veterans of the franchise will be familiar with joins the fight in Season 2.

Not only that, but players can now rank up all the way to Prestige 9, unlocked at level 450. As players level up, exclusive rewards are unlocked along the way.

Of course, there are plenty more updates regarding cosmetics and the like, so be on the look out for those.

Season 2 of both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 begins a little over a month from now on February 15th. Originally slated to begin on February 1st, we must now wait an additional two weeks for the next season. With Season 2 delayed, however, we have the chance to learn plenty about the forthcoming season. With plenty to cover let’s jump straight in to it.

First things first, Call of Duty is addressing plenty of the concerns raised by players over the past two months. In addition, the developers will be spending the additional two weeks before season’s launch to iron out any last minute wrinkles. Although this delay may seem like a bad thing… in reality it likely means we see a much more stable season launch.

Resurgence, a mode made popular with Rebirth Island, makes a return in Warzone 2. Furthermore, Season 2 introduces a brand new small map into Call of Duty’s battle royale. Whether this small map is the resurgence map or another small map for DMZ is yet to be seen.

A long-awaited mode finally makes its way into Modern Warfare 2 with the launch of the upcoming season. Ranked Play will allow players to channel their inner Scump and compete in a CDL map, mode, and ruleset playlist for high skill division rankings or even a spot on the Top 250 leaderboard.

As always, with the start of a new season, comes the typical new pieces of content. Season 2 releases alongside the introduction of new maps for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer and new weapons. Further, new game modes are coming to Modern Warfare II multiplayer.

Season 1 Reloaded is well in the rearview mirror so it’s time to start gearing up for Season 2!

The time is upon us; the Season 1 Reloaded update for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 rolls out tomorrow, December 14th. Both titles see numerous updates from pieces of content to gameplay changes. There is undoubtedly a lot to be excited about so let’s jump straight into it.

Modern Warfare 2

We have known for quite sometime now about Raids, a new feature debuting in Special Ops. In these raids, players are tasked with completing a mission of epic proportions. The first raid, Atomgrad, goes live alongside Season 1 Reloaded. For players looking to make a splash in the Raid pool, you’ll need to unlock your raid assignment in one of three ways: complete a daily challenge in Special Ops or Multiplayer, finish in the top 20 in any Warzone 2 Battle Royale, or use the final extract helicopter in DMZ while holding $30,000.

Shipment, one of Call of Duty’s most iconic maps makes a return with Season 1 Reloaded. Starting December 21st, similar to the map’s launch in Vanguard, Shipment will be filled with festive cheer with a holiday theme. The festivities will of course only be temporary before Shipment reverts to it’s usual appearance. Unlike Vanguard, however, players will not be able to jump on top of the crates. Further, the cause of many nightmares is no where to be found as Krampus does not make an appearance in this iteration of Shipment.

Warzone 2

DMZ may be the newest mode in Call of Duty but that doesn’t stop this game-changer from making headlines. New keys have appeared around Al Mazrah but only the bravest should use them. Building 21 is the newest location in DMZ and challenges players to be strong in a high risk – high reward setting. Some information is still redacted leaving operators to wonder what exactly they may be walking into.

Fans of Mini Royale will be happy to see the mode returning with Al Mazrah and Warzone 2. In addition, Warzone Cup pits two teams of three to drive their pulse-ability equipped ATVs onto the Al Easima soccer (football) pitch to try and score goals with a giant soccer ball. Only the most experienced of drivers will be able to personify Leo Messi with their skills.

General Updates

Various content updates go live across both titles to coincide with the release of Season 1 Reloaded.

Two new operators join the fight with the mid-season update. Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick and Klaus Fisker are available for purchase through in-store bundles. However, for players up for the challenge, completion of the Atomgrad raid also unlocks Gaz with an exclusive skin. Should players both purchase the Gaz bundle and complete the challenge, a third exclusive skin will be unlocked.

Players can look forward to adding the Chimera assault rifle to their armory with Season 1 Reloaded. Drawing comparisons to Infinite Warfare’s Honeybadger, the Chimera is available for unlock through the purchase of an in-store bundle or the completion of a currently unspecified challenge.

To put icing on the cake, Double XP and Double Weapon XP are on the way. Starting on December 15th at 10am PT (December 14th at 10am PT for PlayStation users) and running until December 19th at 10am PT, players should take advantage of the double-double XP event to level up themselves and their weapons.

Modern Warfare 2 Mastery Camos and Challenges Revealed https://iplaycod.com/modern-warfare-2-mastery-camos-and-challenges-revealed/ Thu, 27 Oct 2022 17:00:26 +0000 https://iplaycod.com/?p=1741 All of the mastery camos for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 have been revealed alongside descriptions on how to unlock all four camos.

The post Modern Warfare 2 Mastery Camos and Challenges Revealed appeared first on I Play CoD.

]]>
Year after year, thousand upon thousands, even millions of players take to Call of Duty with a goal in mind: unlock the mastery camo. After speculation and leaks, much was unknown regarding Modern Warfare 2 mastery camos. However, after an intel-dump from Call of Duty, we now know what the mastery camos are and how to go about unlocking them. With a lot to cover let’s jump straight into it.

Challenge 1

As is typical in previous titles, every weapon will have a set of base camo challenges. These challenges range from a certain number of kills to kill streaks and more. However, completing all of these base challenges comes with a greater reward. Players that complete every base camo challenge for a weapon will unlock the Gold camo.

Challenge 2

Also typical to CoD, players that unlock gold for every weapon in a specific weapon class earn another reward. Additionally, players can swap out any base weapon for DLC weapon when they release. Essentially, if a player would rather unlock gold for a DLC AR than a base AR, progress will still count towards the next camo. After earning gold for the required number of weapons in a class, players will unlock the Platinum camo.

Challenge 3

After unlocking Platinum for a weapon class, a new set of challenges will unlock for each weapon in that class. Further, once players complete this new set of challenges they will receive a never-before-seen camo for their weapon. The camo? Polyatomic.

Challenge 4

Should none of those camos be enough, players can look towards the final mastery camo challenge. Unlocking Polyatomic on 51 weapons, currently the amount of base weapons, the final mastery camo will be unlocked. Should players complete the challenge of all challenges they will be rewarded with the Orion camo. Moreover, after unlocking Orion, any other gun that Polyatomic is earned for will be automatically upgraded to Orion.

With Modern Warfare 2 releasing globally tomorrow at the time of posting, be on the lookout for plenty of MW2 content. In addition, check out IPC on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook to never miss a thing. You can also follow the author of this article YxngTexas.

Beyond everything said above, there are also platform-specific achievements that can be earned through the completion of the campaign. The full reveal of Modern Warfare II is just around the corner. Starting with the early access campaign release on October 20th, the full release of MW2 is slated for October 28th. Just yesterday we learned plenty of intel regarding the first few weeks of Infinity Ward’s newest title. With a lot to cover let’s jump straight into it.

Call of Duty does something this year they’ve never done before. On October 20th those that have preordered MW2 will be able to hop into the early access release of the campaign. Through the campaign, players will work through the MW2 story while earning campaign-exclusive rewards. These rewards include blueprints, XP tokens, cosmetics, and more.

Seasonal prestiges return in Modern Warfare II as every season players will progress from levels 1 to 55 within different prestiges. With this progression and other challenges, players will be able to earn weapons, kits, operators, and more.

Modern Warfare II, at launch, will feature over 50 unique weapons. These weapons, stemming from over 30 weapon trees, round out the largest at-launch arsenal we’ve seen in Call of Duty. Further, players can work to unlock platform-specific and universal attachments including receivers that serve as additional functional weapons.

12 modes, 10 core and 2 Ground War, are available for play at launch. Players take to three regions of maps in Al Mazrah, Las Almas, and the rest of the world to play these modes. We also learned about plenty of the operators joining the fight on October 20th including Ghost, Price, and Soap.

The start dates for Season 1 and Season 1 Reloaded were also revealed in this post. Season 1 begins on November 16th and introduces Warzone 2.0 DMZ and Battle Royale. Additionally, Season 1 Reloaded begins December 14th and introduces Raids. Raids will be part of Special Ops which returns this year with three missions at launch.

Beta Weekend One for Modern Warfare II has come and gone. Players around the world took to their PlayStations to try out the newest Call of Duty for the first time. Although the feedback seemed to be overwhelmingly positive it did not come without some criticism. The short break between beta weekends is upon us an Infinity Ward has taken the opportunity to address concerns post-Beta Weekend One. This article will cover some of the most hotly-contested points surrounding the beta and with a lot to cover let’s jump straight into it.

Mini-Map Red Dots

The mini-map has `long been a feature in Call of Duty used by players to help calculate their next moves. Further, the mini-map provides need-to-know intel about your enemies and where they are on the map. Players noticed that these enemy position signifying red dots were absent from their MW2 mini-maps. This has since been addressed by the developers who have claimed the desire to not “punish players for firing their weapons.” This point has been met with some contention from a player base that wants to see the return of the classic mini-map.

Perks

Infinity Ward has shaken up the classic perk system to introduce a new system this year. Players earn their perks throughout the course of a match with their best perks being the “hardest” to earn. Moving into Beta Weekend Two, the earn rate for these perks is being drastically accelerated. In addition, Dead Silence will be remaining as a Field Upgrade due to it being perceived as overpowered as a perk.

Sliding

Slide cancelling is a movement technique allowing players to be quick and agile around the map. Moving into Modern Warfare II, however, slide cancelling is no more. Players have since found a workaround that the developers will be looking into how to address. That said, however, Infinity Ward will be making slide changes pre-launch to improve players’ overall movement.

A lot more is sure to come surrounding Modern Warfare II as we move towards the October 28th release. To never miss a thing, be sure to connect with IPC on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. You can also follow the author of this article YxngTexas.

Depending on your platform and pre-order status you will be able to access the beta at different times.

Continuing their partnership with Sony, PlayStation users get first access to the newest Call of Duty. September 16th sees the start of the early access beta for those that have preordered MW2 on PlayStation only. On September 18th, the PlayStation beta opens up to all players. The next weekend, starting on September 22nd, early access for XBOX and PC begins while open access for PlayStation continues. Finally, on September 24th, the open beta begins on all platforms.
