Earlier today, Call of Duty revealed the roadmap for Vanguard and Warzone Season 2! Initially delayed by 12 days, Season 2 begins on February 14th. This new season brings plenty of changes to Vanguard and Warzone, changes sure to shake up the world of Call of Duty. With plenty of exciting content to cover let’s jump straight into it.
Warzone
Warzone, Call of Duty’s Battle Royale, sees a plethora of changes with the Season 2 update. Players will be able to use a Nebula V Ammo field upgrade that emits a poisonous gas cloud when an opponent is downed. Nebula V Bombs work similarly. This is sure to make small spaces, and reviving teammates, even more chaotic. Further, Portable Decontamination Stations can filter the air around players, eliminating the effects of Nebula V. If you and your team get caught in the circle collapse, you can now give yourself some time to heal without taking damage. Armored trucks and bomber planes also make their way into Warzone with this update. Players will also be able to utilize redeploy balloons to zipline up to and jump off of to cover more ground quickly.
Operators will be able to explore two new points of interest in Caldera in the Chemical Factory and Chemical Weapon Research Lab. Additionally, new modes are coming to Warzone in Caldera Clash and Rebirth Iron Trials. Rebirth Island will also see an update with Rebirth Reinforced.
Vanguard Multiplayer
Vanguard multiplayer receives some exciting updates with Season 2! Two new maps, Casablanca and Gondola, release alongside the launch of Season 2. The Battle Pass has some interesting tier unlocks similar to season 1. The Ball Turret Gunner killstreak and Sticky Bomb lethal equipment (semtex) are unlockable through the Battle Pass. In addition, two new perks, Armory and Mechanic are unlockable as well. Armory works as a direct counter to Engineer while Mechanic buffs Field Upgrade charge time. With Season 2 launching on Valentines Day, players can expect some themed experiences in Vanguard!
Arms Race, a new mode involving vehicles, will also be seen in the new season. Ranked Play is being introduced into Vanguard in Season 2 (in beta at launch) allowing players to fuel their competitive fire.
Vanguard Zombies
Vanguard Zombies will also be seeing its fair share of updates as well. A brand new hub map, Terra Maledicta, takes the fight away from Der Anfang to a new location with new objectives. The Dark Aether makes it return as an entirely new location. A new ally entity in Vercanna the Last enters the fray alongside a new artifact power in Healing Aura. However, a new enemy entity, Zaballa the Deceiver, will try to make things more difficult for players. Two Wonder Weapons are being introduced as well, the Decimator Shield and the fan favorite classic Ray Gun.
New sacrifice objectives, story quests, and side easter eggs are being introduced as well. Through this, the Dark Aether story continues. Veterans of CoD zombies will also sense some familiarity through the easter egg inspired by Black Ops II’s Origins. This is the second nod to classic zombies maps in Vanguard with Shi No Numa recently introduced. A new Covenant ability, Artifact Ward gives players the chance to trigger their artifact for free when hit from the rear.
New Content Across Vanguard and Warzone
Three new operators will join the fight in Season 2 representing SOTF Yeti. Anna Drake is available at launch while Thomas Bolt and Gustavo Dos Santos come later in the season. Players can add four new weapons to their arsenal during Season 2. The KG M40 assault rifle and Whitley LMG are available at launch.
