Yesterday, Call of Duty released information regarding Warzone Pacific, also known as Caldera, the forthcoming Warzone map update! This update marks the first new map in Warzone, outside of the Verdansk ’84 update, since Warzone’s release in March of 2020! With plenty of exciting information to cover let’s jump straight into it.
Caldera releases to owners of Call of Duty: Vanguard on December 8th, 2021 for 24-hours of early access. The next day, all players will be able to drop into the new map! During the 24-hour early access, all players can continue to play Rebirth Island.
Caldera is full of hundreds of points of interest for operators to explore. Fifteen main named locations for operators to check out are spread throughout the map. Staring on December 8th, Operation Vulcan will allow operators to check out everything Warzone Pacific has to offer!
Upon Caldera’s release, Vanguard will become integrated with Warzone. All Vanguard weapons, operators, and cosmetic items will be available for use in Warzone. Additionally, players will be able to cross-progress between Vanguard and Warzone. It is also at this time that the new Battle Pass and bundles containing Vanguard content will be released.
Vanguard Royale will be the featured playlist starting on day one. This mode limits players to Vanguard operators and weapons. Circle collapse changes and in-game events are also to be expected in this playlist. Further, this playlist introduces new vehicles including trucks with AA guns and fighter planes.
Many other changes are coming to Warzone with the Caldera update. Equipment such as gas masks and explosive canisters, perks such as Dead Silence, and field upgrades such as Stopping Power Rounds will all see updates. Further, players will not be able to call in loadout drops until after the first wave of free loadout drops. Players will also be able to wade through the shallow water in various locations across Caldera. Further, operators will be able to complete new contracts spread throughout the map. Returning from Iron Trials, operators who win their gulag will drop back into Caldera with the weapons and equipment from their second-chance one-one-one.
RICOCHET is Call of Duty’s new anti-cheat. This kernel-level driver system releases alongside the Warzone Pacific update. All PC players are required to run RICOCHET. This anti-cheat system will come to Vanguard at a later date. To learn more about the RICOCHET anti-cheat, click here.
If you want to start exploring Caldera early, look no further than the Secrets of the Pacific event. Players can learn exclusive rewards throughout, including the Bomber Menace STG upon completion of the event. This event is available in both Vanguard and Warzone.
