The rumors have been confirmed. Call of Duty: Vanguard will be 2021’s Call of Duty title.
For a few months, Vanguard was the rumored title for Sledgehammer Games’ forthcoming Call of Duty. These rumors gained traction back in June but there had been no correspondence from the developers on this. That is until now. We have finally received confirmation on the rumors surrounding Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Over the past few days, Call of Duty has been sending small teaser videos to content creators worldwide. As a result, the hype surrounding Vanguard grew along with the belief that a full reveal was on the horizon. In these teaser videos, the Pacific Front, Eastern Front, Western Front, and North Africa have all been looked at. Players noticed in these teasers a patch reading ‘Task Force Vanguard’. This patch is reminiscent of the ‘Task Force 141’ patches from the Modern Warfare games. These small teasers were all combined to create the official teaser for Vanguard. Check out the Call of Duty YouTube for the teaser.
During Season 5 in Cold War and Warzone, players believed that we would receive Vanguard’s reveal. Similarly to the Cold War reveal in Warzone back in August 2020, players believed that Vanguard would be revealed via an in-game event. Call of Duty confirmed these beliefs via a Twitter post. On August 19th at 10:30AM Pacific Time (PT), the Battle of Verdansk will begin in Warzone to reveal Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Players can jump into Warzone between 9:30AM PT and 10:29AM PT to earn Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass XP. At 10:30AM Pacific Time, the Battle of Verdansk will begin.
The specifications of this event are unknown, though Call of Duty has given hints surrounding this on Twitter. It seems players will drop into Verdansk with their squad to take on an armored vehicle rolling into Verdansk. Squads will work together to take down this armored vehicle and, presumably, upon completion the reveal will begin. Most of this is speculation for now and players will need to drop into Verdansk on August 19th to experience all the event has to offer.
Call of Duty as we know it is set to change with Vanguard’s reveal later this week. Plenty of exciting content and news is sure to be on the horizon; follow IPC on Twitter and Facebook to stay up-to-date with all things Call of Duty. You can also follow the author of this article YxngTexas.
