E3 has long been an event known for developers to reveal their upcoming projects and Call of Duty has been a staple at the event in recent years. However, according to an article published by VGC, Call of Duty 2021 will stray away from this year’s E3 and opt for an in-game reveal instead.

VGC’s article also mentions that similar to how Black Ops Cold War was revealed via an in-game event in Warzone, CoD 2021 which is rumored to be called Call of Duty: Vanguard, developed by Sledgehammer Games, will be revealed in Raven Software’s free-to-play battle royale.

Also reported by VGC, the game is slated to release on current gen consoles, last-gen consoles, and PC this November and will feature a campaign, zombies, and multiplayer. Further, the game will be set in the European and Pacific theatres of World War II with a focus on the birth of modern allied Special Forces. Vanguard will run on the same engine as Modern Warfare 2019.

VGC states that Warzone will be getting a significant update to coincide with Vanguard’s release which will see Verdansk transition to a World War II setting. In addition, the battle royale is said to be set in the Pacific theatre of World War II; this brand-new map is said to be the largest and most ambitious to-date map in the series and is expected to be significantly larger than current Verdansk.

The article released by VGC is purely speculation, the only thing confirmed by Activision at present time is that Sledgehammer Games is leading the development of Call of Duty 2021 and the game is “built for next-gen” with a campaign, multiplayer, and zombies. Take from this as you will, but until anything is confirmed by Activision as concrete, anything Call of Duty 2021 related is subject to change.
