RICOCHET Anti-Cheat, Call of Duty’s new anti-cheat system is releasing later this year. With plenty of information to cover let’s just straight into it.
Activision began to deal with problems of cheaters through multiple ban-waves that took cheaters off the game. However, with new accounts and software, cheaters returned time and time again. RICOCHET Anti-Cheat ensures a more effective solution to the cheating problem.
Using new server side-tools, RICOCHET anti-cheat seeks to eradicate cheaters from all Call of Duty titles. The server tools will be available both in Vanguard at launch and in Warzone with the release of the new map. Strengthened account security is also a main focus surrounding this anti-cheat. Beyond this, a new kernel-level driver is releasing in Warzone alongside the Vanguard integration and into Vanguard at a later date. This software, which will be downloaded as part of the Warzone download, will be required to play Warzone on PC upon its release. This software will detect software and programs on the user’s PC used for manipulate Warzone. Although this software is available on PC only, console players who have crossplay enabled will also reap the benefits.
As cheating software has become more and more sophisticated, the kernel-level driver decreases the ability to bypass the anti-cheat.
Activision has addressed the privacy concerns surrounding the kernel-level driver. The driver will only be on when playing Call of Duty: Warzone, and later Vanguard. Further, the driver only monitors software that deals with Call of Duty.
Between machine-learning software and community feedback, the developers have committed to improving the anti-cheat software as time goes on.
