Call of Duty has given us the Vanguard Zombies Reveal along with some exciting information surrounding this fan-favorite mode. With the release of Vanguard less than one month away, excitement is growing. With plenty of intel to cover let’s jump straight into it!

Originally introduced with Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard Zombies is a continuation of the Dark Aether story. Set in the WWII ruins of Stalingrad, Vanguard Zombies takes players into the darkest areas of the supernatural.

The story begins after a Nazi experiment gone wrong as our soldiers are trapped in Stalingrad with no communication. Dark Aether entity Kortifix the Deathless uses dark magic to disrupt our soldiers as four other entities stand in opposition to Kortifix.

Der Anfang, translated as The Beginning, introduces players to these entities and the protagonist, Oberführer Wolfram Von List. List, a former Nazi officer, tried to summon the supernatural to turn the war in the Nazi’s favor. Additionally, List and Kortifix team up to summon an undead army to combat players and the other four entities.

Going back to WWII, Vanguard Zombies is sure to feel familiar to veteran fans of Call of Duty zombies. Further, the fight will expand across locations such as Hotel Royal and the fan-favorite Shi No Numa. While completing objectives, obtaining perks, and using Pack-A-Punch to upgrade weapons, players are sure to be deep in the battle against the undead. New upgrades, such as the Altar of Covenants, are introduced in Vanguard zombies. Furthermore, Treyarch utilizes Vanguard’s engine to bring players an riveting zombies experience.

Both cross-platform and cross-generation play are available in Vanguard zombies allowing players from any platform to team up. Shared across modes, players can level up and upgrade the Battle Pass across multiplayer, zombies, and Warzone.
